£15.3 million secured for Blackpool town centre
More fantastic news for Blackpool – the government has now confirmed that our town will receive its full £15.3 million allocation from the Levelling Up Fund.
I’ve received a letter directly from the Minister for Local Transport, Simon Lightwood MP, confirming that the Department for Transport has secured the funding in the latest Spending Review. This investment will support the full delivery of the Blackpool Town Centre Access Scheme – a major regeneration project focused on upgrading our local road network and transport infrastructure.
This is something I’ve been fighting for and I’m pleased that this funding is now guaranteed. It’s a real win for Blackpool. Improving our transport links is crucial if we want to grow our local economy, attract new investment and make our town centre a place we can all be proud of.
The department will now work with Blackpool Council to put the final pieces in place, including an affordable funding plan to make sure this scheme is delivered smoothly and effectively.
This funding marks a big step forward and I’ll keep pushing to bring more opportunities and investment to help us build a better Blackpool.
