Beyond the Prom – issue two of my magazine dropping soon
We’ve done the tour – now we’re launching the magazine!
Over the last two weeks I visited every corner of Blackpool South on my Beyond the Prom summer roadshow. Now Beyond the Prom, the magazine, is being delivered to every household across the constituency.
You may remember receiving issue one of Beyond the Prom magazine during my election campaign, it was my way of telling the people of Blackpool South what my missions and pledges to you were and why I hoped to become your MP to fulfil them.
Now issue two is about to land on doormats – telling you exactly what I have done in my first year in office to keep my promises to you.
A year of delivery
Over the past twelve months, I’ve worked hard to make Blackpool’s voice heard in Westminster and to deliver real change at home. We’ve secured record investment – more than £120 million for our town – to improve housing, fix roads, upgrade health facilities, boost public transport and support community projects.
We’ve brought senior ministers to Blackpool South, ensuring our needs are understood at the very top of government. We’ve taken on the big issues – from tackling anti-social behaviour and rising knife crime, to fighting for better jobs and wages.
In 12 months my office helped over 7,000 local people with casework ranging from housing to healthcare. We’ve supported families during the cost-of-living crisis, launched a national campaign to make infant formula more affordable and hosted Blackpool’s biggest-ever jobs fair – connecting thousands of jobseekers with real opportunities.
Visible and accessible
From day one, I promised to be the most visible and accessible MP Blackpool has ever had. That means getting out into the community – holding surgeries in neighbourhood cafés and community centres, joining police on patrol, visiting local schools and businesses and making sure I’m where people need me.
Beyond the Prom is a part of that mission. Not everyone uses social media, and not everyone can get to a meeting or event – but everyone deserves to know what their MP is doing on their behalf. By delivering this magazine to every household in my constituency, I’m making sure nobody is left out of the conversation.
Looking ahead
There’s still a long way to go and big challenges to tackle but the past year has shown what we can achieve when we work together.
Over the coming weeks, keep an eye out for Beyond the Prom dropping through your letterbox. Inside, you’ll find the full picture of my first year as your MP, the work we’ve done together and what’s next for our town.
I’m proud to serve the community I was born and raised in and I’ll keep working every day to build a better Blackpool.
