By rejecting division and decline, we are building a better Blackpool and a Britain built for all
2026 is the year Britain turns a corner, and in Blackpool we’re going to do it together.
When you put your trust in me by re-electing me as your local MP, I promised to help deliver the change our country had been crying out for. That work is now underway.
The fair choices this Labour Government has made will mean real change for millions of people this year – including here in Blackpool – and over time, even more people will feel the benefit. We are cutting the cost of living, reducing NHS waiting lists, putting more police on our streets, taking money off people’s energy bills, boosting the minimum wage and lifting over half a million children out of poverty.
These actions show how the choices we’ve made are beginning to turn our country around – choices that Reform, the Conservatives and other opposition parties simply wouldn’t make.
But this is not mission accomplished. I know people are frustrated at the pace of change and that too many aren’t feeling it quickly enough. After 14 years of decline, renewal cannot happen overnight. From the global financial crisis to Brexit, the pandemic and war in Europe, Britain has faced immense challenges. Turning that around takes time, determination and honesty.
Locally, over the past year I’ve focused on the issues that matter most in Blackpool: job security, poverty, crime, education and our local environment. I’ve helped deliver a jobs fair that secured thousands of local jobs, achieved a change to infant formula regulations saving parents up to £500 a year, secured benefits for hundreds of pensioners, put bobbies back on the beat in every local area, won funding for two new SEND schools, and brought £20 million of investment to Grange Park and Layton. Alongside this, I’ve personally assisted more than 10,000 constituents with their individual challenges.
This year, I’ll be expanding that work and continuing to fight for Blackpool.
Together, we are getting Britain back on track. But we can only deliver the renewal our country needs if we reject division and decline and move forward together – building a better Blackpool and a better Britain for all.
