Have your say: tell the government what Blackpool’s hospitality sector needs

The government has launched a four-week review of outdated pub licensing rules that are holding our town back. And I want you to have your say.

Too much red tape stops our pubs, bars and live venues from fulfilling their potential. It’s harder than it should be to host live music, serve food outside or put on the kind of community events that bring people together.

I’m backing this review because I know how much hospitality means to Blackpool. It’s not just about a night out – it’s about jobs, pride and keeping our town alive. It’s about the taxi drivers, bar staff, musicians, cleaners, suppliers and small business owners who rely on a strong local economy to make a living.

I know how hard people work to make a living in Blackpool and I’ve finally have a government that it recognising that and making it easier for you to get on.

This review is part of Labour’s Plan for Change – a plan that gives small businesses the freedom to cut through pointless bureaucracy and grow.

Decisions about Blackpool have been made by distant politicians for too long. By taking part in this consultation, you have the chance to shape the rules that affect your business and your community and tell the government what’s holding you back.

Blackpool has always been the beating heart of British tourism and hospitality. We’ve got world-class talent, creativity and grit. If we remove the barriers that hold us back, there’s no limit to what this town can achieve.
