Promise Made, Promise Delivered – Taxi licensing in Blackpool

Two years ago today, I stood in Parliament to ask my very first question as Blackpool South’s MP and I kept my word by calling for taxi licensing reform.

Since then, I’ve worked closely with local drivers and continued campaigning for tougher, fairer and more modern taxi and private hire laws.

After a long campaign, I’m delighted the government is now taking forward the action I’ve long called for.

These reforms can finally tackle the issue of out-of-area working, strengthen public safety, and help protect the livelihoods of local taxi drivers.

This is an important step forward for both passengers and drivers alike in Blackpool.
