Small business dealing with late payments? I want to hear from you
Late payments are one of the biggest problems small businesses in Blackpool face.
When small businesses don’t get paid on time, it causes real hardship. Cash flow dries up, wages get delayed and jobs are put at risk. Every year, 14,000 businesses close because of late payments. That’s 38 a day. Across the UK, £26 billion is owed in late payments – money that should be helping local firms like yours grow, pay staff and invest back into our community.
This Labour Government has already started to act. We’re bringing in new rules that make large companies report on their payment practices in their annual reports. We’ve launched a Fair Payment Code to highlight businesses that do the right thing and pay their suppliers quickly and fairly.
I want the government to go further. I’m calling on business owners here in Blackpool to share what’s really happening on the ground and what more we can do to fix this. Your experience matters and your views will help shape what happens next.
Please take a few minutes to fill in this government consultation and share your thoughts. It’s a chance to make your voice heard and make sure small businesses in Blackpool get the fair treatment they deserve.
When businesses are paid on time everyone wins – money flows through our town, more jobs are created and instead of chasing unpaid invoices, people can focus on running their businesses and serving their customers.
