Solar power for Blackpool South schools

Today marks a welcome announcement from central government – Great British Energy is funding new solar panels for three local schools.

Blackpool Gateway Academy, Marton Primary Academy and Nursery and St George’s High School are all getting clean power to cut their energy bills.

This is the first big project from our publicly owned energy company. It puts money back into frontline services instead of losing it to high bills. These schools save thousands will save thousands of pounds on their energy bills meaning more support for your children in the areas that matter.

I’ve visited most schools in my constituency now and I’ve seen how they’re scrambling around for cash to meet the growing needs of children and their families. They deserve every bit of help we can give them.

I’m proud to back this investment. Labour is making a clear choice. We are building energy security and we are backing public services with the savings we make.
